EVENT SPEAKER
Debra Dougherty
Debra Dougherty is the Executive Director of the Northeast Region of Canine Companions
for Independence. Debra is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and fundraising
efforts for the region which serves 13 states from Maine to Virginia. In 2008, under
Debra's leadership, the regional offices moved into its new $11 million training facility
located in Medford, NY known as the Miller Family Campus. Prior to joining the staff of
Canine Companions for Independence Debra worked for 9 years in development in the area of
higher education. She has been an active volunteer in the community of Islip where she
resides with her husband and two black labs, Crystal and Bosco.
