Ylisa Kunze
Ylisa, a trained psychotherapist, works as the Vice-President of Human Resources for RexCorp
Realty LLC., a developer, owner and operator of commercial real estate. Ms. Kunze has been
involved with Portuguese Water Dogs for over 25 years since first suggesting the breed to her
parents as the perfect sailing companion. A family love affair with the breed was quickly
ignited and led to a foray into the competitive world of showing dogs. Within years, Ylisa's
mother stud dog was ranked in the top 10 of the breed and also considered a top producer of
champion PWDs. When Ylisa looked to purchase an apartment, she did so with the intent of
housing herself and her Portuguese Water Dog named Kiri, the last puppy her mother bred prior
to her passing away in 1997. Today, Ylisa has another Portuguese Water Dog, Karma, the first
dog in her name to earn an AKC Championship. Also, Karma is downline from her mother’s breeding
as well as a Stargazer bitch that she had always admired. Now that Karma has finished her
championship, Ylisa plans to begin training her for water trials. In addition to her involvement
with dogs, Kunze sings with the Oratorio Society of New York.
