Dog Health Essentials: Keeping Them Happy, Healthy, & Safe
Giving you ways to improve your pet's life and longevity.
Our dogs are beloved members of our family. They are such a big part of our daily lives and we could not imagine a day without them. Every pet owner wants to ensure good health care for their pets. The question is how can you do it effectively... talk with the experts.
When have you ever had the chance to talk with a panel of NYC top experts in veterinary medicine? Never - but now you can get answers to your burning questions about everything from common health problems to neutering to microchips to the newest wave of groundbreaking advances in medical diagnostics / treatments for dogs.
Join us at the Illustration House on Thursday, October 27th, 6:30 – 9 PM. Here's what you can expect from this invitation-only event:
We'll start the evening with presentations from the doctors...
- Dr. Chick Weisse VMD, DACVS - Director of Interventional Radiology Services, Animal Medical Center
He graduated with a VMD degree (1998), did an internship in small animal medicine (1999), and finished his residency in surgery from University of Pennsylvania (2002).
- Dr. Ellen Leonhardt DVM - Medical Director, Animal General
She graduated Cornell in 1988, and got her DVM at Ross University in 1993. She was the first veterinarian in New York State to perform a completely IN HOSPITAL Stem Cell treatment on a dog (2010). She has 2 Rottweilers, "Kinsey" and "Joplin" who come to work with her and are the greeters to all who visit Animal General!
- Dr. Jessica Gentile DVM - Cardiology, Blue Pearl
She got her BS at Cornell (2002), her DVM at Kansas State (2006), and finished her residency in cardiology at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (2010). She spends her free time exploring the city with her golden retriever.
You will quickly get answers to your questions about everything from common health problems to neutering to microchips to the newest wave of groundbreaking advances in medical diagnostics / treatments for dogs.
- Enjoy delicious light fare and refreshments with fellow dog enthusiasts.
- Q&A will be moderated by Dr. John Sangiorgio, Chief Medical Officer at CompleteCare Veterinary Center. Guests will be encouraged to ask anything and everything of this esteemed healthcare team!
- Each paid guest will receive a free Wellness Exam (a $60 value) from CompleteCare in Staten Island for your beloved pet.
Make your reservations early because space is limited and spaces are expected to fill quickly.

September 2011
Spend An Evening With Penn Station's Super Sniffers - Midtown's Hairiest Lifesavers.
They're small, hairy, and likely to sniff you in the damnedest places. But that's their job.
Now you're invited for a rare opportunity to spend some face time with these guys in one of New York's busiest, most historic places. If you've walked through Penn Station without giving your safety a second thought, then don't miss this behind-the-scenes look at the bomb-sniffing, life-saving Police Dogs of Amtrak.
Join us at Penn Station Wednesday, September 21st, 6:30 – 9 PM. Here's what you can expect from this invitation-only event:
- We'll start the evening in the Amtrak Conference Room at Penn Station, with Inspector Parker explaining why these breeds are chosen for this challenging work.
- You will quickly realize how knowledgeable and committed their entire K-9 team is to protecting and serving you… the trainers, the handlers, and the dogs alike.
- Our discussion will cover important topics from how they use "best-in-class" training methods & equipment to which dogs have the highest breeding stock.
- Enjoy delicious light fare and refreshments with fellow dog enthusiasts.
- Hands-on interaction with these elite protectors of safety – a Belgian Malinois, a Labrador Retriever, a German Shepherd, and a German Shorthaired Pointer.
- A VIP demonstration in the Rotunda of how the Amtrak K-9 squad saves lives every day. Guests are invited and encouraged to participate!
- Each paid guest will receive a copy of the DVD about the program.
About 300,000 people pass through here daily. And you're one of the lucky few with a chance to enjoy a rare inside look at some very special dogs in one of New York's iconic locations. Make your reservations early because space is limited and spaces are expected to fill quickly.
